Francis was born in Darlington, Durham, in the summer of 1880, to William and Elizabeth Moore. The family was living in Newington, London by 1891, where Francis’s father worked as a carpenter and joiner. Francis was a middle child, with an older brother, Alfred, who worked as a perfumer, an older sister, Beatrice, and younger brothers Herbert and Harold.
He married a woman called Susannah Alice, who appears to have been from Merton.
He enlisted in Wimbledon, and died of a bowel obstruction in Brighton.
