John Charles Pegley was born at Southwark to Charles and Lydia Louisa Jarrett Pegley on the 5th May 1889. John Charles had two brothers, Sidney Harold born 15/06/1886, His youngest brother Charles was born in 1903 and one sister Kathleen Lydia who was born in Wimbledon in June 1900. The family lived in Wimbledon.
John Charles attended St Andrew’s School in Crimsworth Road in Lambeth on 09/09/1903.
In March 1910, he married May Stannett who was from Langley in Buckingham, at Medway in Kent. The 1911 Census reveals that the couple had been married for one year and that he was employed as an assistant roller (iron bar rolling at the Loco Depot at S.E & G Building). The couple lived at 31 Dorien Road in Raynes Park and are not known to have had any children.
