Register of Soldiers' Effects - Alfred Charles Elgood
Additional Information
In addition to the usual information shown on the register of soldiers' effects, such as the date and place a soldier was killed, and his next of kin, this register is particularly interesting because it lists both the alias Alfred Elgood enlisted under (Alfred Totterdill), and his real name (Alfred Charles Elgood). Alfred initially attempted to join the Royal Field Artillery; however, upon being discharged, he enlisted in the Northamptonshire Regiment under the name Alfred Totterdill, where he successfully served until he was killed in 1917.
