Merton's War Stories

During the summer of 2015 the project team hosted three War Story Days open to members of the public across the borough. At each event there was a range of activities and attractions for visitors, including local history talks, exhibitions, First World War artefacts available for handling as well as children's activities. However, the main focus of the day was to film interviews of Merton residents with stories to tell about their families involvement with The Great War.

Using funds allocated from the HLF grant, the team were able to purchase excellent audio visual equipment to carry out the interviews and contracted training for usage of the equipment and interview techniques from the Oral History Society.

The videos below are a small selection of the interviews that have been carried out to date, more of which will be uploaded during the Summer of 2016. At the end of the Summer we will be hosting two more interview sessions.
