Mitcham Volunteer Fire Brigade
Additional Information
Members of Mitcham Volunteer Fire Brigade pictured at the side of Vestry Hall in the early 1930s.
The volunteer unit was becoming increasingly professional with its striking uniform and motorised engines. By this stage the brigade had probably moved from their old premises in Vestry hall to the adjacent new fire station constructed during the 1920s.
Notice the brigade’s box van which doubled as a basic ambulance.
