Arthur Jones was born in Mold, Flintshire in 1870. His parents were Robert, the local Postmaster and Police Officer, and Amelia and he had an older sister Harriet, brother Herbert and a twin sister Mary Amelia.
Arthur was a soldier many years before WW1 as his occupation on the 1901 census shows him as being “Soldier in 60th Company RE” “doing duty at home” . However, by 1911 he was married to Edith Baily and working as a builders clerk in Berkhampstead.
At his death in December 1914 he was a corporal in the Royal Engineers and is buried in the Gap Road Cemetery in Wimbledon plot F.B4.80.
