Harry Juster was born on 24 March 1895 to James, a carpenter, and Sarah. He had a twin, Bertie plus 7 other brothers and sisters - William, George, Louisa (who died aged 12), Ada, Emma, May and Frederick and the family lived at 140 Effra Road, Wimbledon before moving to 10 Granville Road, Wimbledon.
He attended Rutlish school and became an errand boy and then a grocer's assistant when he left.
Harry had only been in the trenches for a week, according to the Wimbledon Boro News, when he received his death wound. He and his brother had joined up together and Harry enlistment records show that he was 19 years and 10 months old (a month older than his twin!), was 5ft 5.5ins tall with a 35.5inch chest and weighed 119lbs. They did their training at Chatham before being sent to France.
