Albert Norris was born in 1899 in Merton. His parents were Charles, a labourer, and Florence and he had older siblings Alfred, William, Fred, Leonard, Florence, Charles and a younger brother Robert. They lived at 25 Pincott Road before moving to Sydenham shortly before the war.
He enlisted in Lewisham and died at 42 Sty Hos Courbou on 7 November 1918. He is buried in Charmes Military Cemetery, Essegney (Grave 1, F14) and in addition to the memorial in St Saviour’s Church he is also recorded on the Sydenham Wesley Hall memorial.
