Fred Pickett was the son of Frederick Henry and Margaret Hannah Pickett. In the 1911 census he was registered as living at "Craystoke," 96, South Park Rd., Wimbledon, Surrey with his parents and sister Margaret. At the time his father was a joiner, his sister was a dressmaker and Fred was a compositor.
On 19th December 1916 in Kingston-upon-Thames Fred PIckett enlisted into the army aged 30years and 3months. He embarked in Folkestone and disembarked on Boulogne.
He died of his wounds on 20th March 1918 from shell gas poisoning.
He was granted the British War Medal and Victory Medal in respect for his service on 22nd May 1922. He never married.
