James Herbert Pooley enlisted on 19th November 1915 for service in the Honourable Artillery Company.
He had two sisters, Amy, and Ethel Catherine.
There was an inquest into the suicide of Private Pooley after his death. It was reported that he died in the Nelson Hospital, Merton, from taking poison on 09 December 1915. He was returned home between 19th November 1915 till his death on 09th December 1915. He served only 21 days – on the report he was discharged in consequence of having committed suicide.
