Very little is known about William Henry Pointer, who was born in c1891 at Raynes Park. According to the medals awarded list, his father was William H Poynter.
The 1901 Census reveals that 10 year old William Henry was attending school at an isolation hospital in Gap Road, South Wimbledon.
William Henry’s service record is not available through Ancestry. He enlisted in the 1st Battalion the Manchester Regiment in 1914 and was killed in action on the 21st December 1914 at the Battle of Loos. He is commemorated at the Le Touret Memorial in France and who have no known grave.
