Albert was born in Wimbledon c 1898. His parents were William who was a painter and decorator, and Harriet. They had a total of 5 children as at the 1911 census – Lottie, born 1896, then Albert followed by Lilian in 1905, Charles in 1909 and an unnamed baby boy who was just 8 days old on census day.
In 1901 the family were living at 135 Russell Road, Wimbledon, a house they shared with Walter Joiner, his wife Mary and their two children. By 1911 they had moved to a five roomed home at 2 Granville Road, Wimbledon.
Albert appears to have enlisted in 1916 and was sent to France in June of that year. He was killed only 4 month later on the Somme on 11 October 1916 and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial and in St Mary’s Church, Merton.
