Lewis John Potter born April or May 1876 in Norfolk was the son of John and Thirza Potter and baptized on the 7th May 1876. His father, John was working as a publican at the time of his son’s marriage to Ethel Maud Baxter, her father; a retired solicitor’s clerk was by then deceased.
At the time of his marriage to Ethel Maud Baxter on 3rd September 1901 in Middlesex, he was an electrician living at 9 Church Street in Brighton.
By the 1911 Census, the couple had been married for 9 years, Lewis John was working as an electrical engineer and the couple had 3 children, Ethel, age 8 years, Lewis age 5 years and Stanley aged 4 years.
By the time he enlisted in the Royal Flying Corps, he was living in West Barnes. His service record is not available.
He died at a Military Hospital in Dover on the 29th September 1917 and was buried on 5th 0ctober 1917
