Albert was part of a large family. He was born in Earlsfield and his parents William, a carpenter, and Rose had a total of 8 children: Gertrude was born in 1891, followed by William (Willie) and Rose, then there was Albert, Hector, Percy, Redginald and Ernest.
In 1901 they were living in Steerforth Street, Wandsworth but by 1911 they had moved to a 4 room house at 21 Dension Street, Colliers Wood.
Albert enlisted in the 3rd Battalion of the Rifle Brigade, service number S/9765. He died of wounds inflicted near Ypres and is buried in the Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery iii B 41 A. He is commemorated in the Mitcham Roll of Honour and at Christ Church Colliers Wood.
