Additional Information
Elliott William Meek was born in Lambeth to Elliott and Agnes Meek in 1891. By 1901 the family, which included Elliott’s older brother Alonzole who was 15 and his younger sister, 8 year old Ethel, were living at 46 London Street, Islington.
Little is known about Elliott as he was growing up as there is no record of him on the 1911 census but we do know that his mother died and his father married again to a lady called Elizabeth.
Elliott joined the Queen (Royal West Surrey) Regiment, 8th Battalion, service number G2479 and was killed on 9 September 1917. At the time of his death his father was living at 67 Briscoe Road, Merton but he died shortly after Elliott Jnr as the war gratuity was paid to Elizabeth, Elliot’s step mother.
Elliott William is commemorated at the Huts Cemetery in Belgium.
