Additional Information

Frederick was born in Wimbledon in about 1897 to John and Harriett Milledge. He was the oldest child, with three younger siblings: Frank, Doris, and Muriel. The family lived at 17 Thornton Road, later moving to a four room house at 58 Stroud Green Road in North London. His father worked as a carpenter.

Frederick enlisted in the Royal Fusiliers, and entered the war in France on 17 November 1915. He served until 17 January 1917, when he was killed in action, and buried at the Guards Cemetery, Windy Corner, Cuinchy.
It appears that his medals may have gone unclaimed by his family, as there is a request on the bottom of his medal roll card, dated 3 November 1920, to authorise the disposal of his medals.
