Frederick Whitehair who was born in 1842 in Southwark, by the 1851 Census he was an inmate of the St Pancras workhouse. 0n the 29th January 1865, he married Ann Hudd, Frederick was employed as a whitesmith.
Arthur Albert Whitehair, who was born in the first quarter of 1883 at Southwark, was the fifth child of 47 year old Frederick, a whitesmith by profession, and 45 year old Annie Whitehair. Arthur Albert was baptized on 0ctober the 31st at St Alphonse in 1886. The baptism records reveal that the family were living at 14b Peabody Buildings in Southwark.
The 1891 Census reveals that his father Frederick was employed as an engine fitter.
The 1901 Census reveals that Arthur had left school and was now employed as a wine cellerman along with his older brother William aged 24 years. His 14 year old brother Alfred was employed as a telegraph messenger boy while their 19 year old sister Rose was a book folder.
0n the 18th March 1906, the 22 year old Arthur Albert, a cellerman, married 20 year old Mary Ann Harris; the couple lived at 19 Holland Street. The grooms’ father was recorded as a blacksmith by profession. The birth index reveals that Ann and Arthur Albert had a son born in the first quarter of 1910.
Arthur Albert enlisted in the army at Rotherhithe and served as a private in the Royal Army Veterinary Corps and died at home on the 19th 0ctober 1918. Cause of death unknown. He was cremated at Streatham Park Cemetery.
