Thomas Dalton who was born in 1889 was the only child of Thomas, a shop assistant and Mary Ann, a house keeper. Thomas and Mary Ann had married at St Mary Magdalen Church in Bermondsey on the 20th August 1887.
By 1891, the family were residing in Longfellow Road in North Cheam. The 1911 Census reveals that the couple had been married for 24 years and that they were now living in Worcester Park in Surrey. Their only son Thomas was a 22 year old Civil Services clerk.
Thomas enlisted Bunhill Row in London, rising to the rank of L Corporal in the East Surrey Regiment where he died on the 1st July 1916 in the Balkans and he is buried in the Bagdad north gate Cemetery.
