Alfred Thomas who was born on the 15th June 1895 in Shoreditch, according to the school register of Hackney Hammond School which he attended from the age of 3 years, was the eldest son of Alfred and Louisa Tillett.
His parents, eighteen year old, Albert James married Louisa Edith Longman on the 26th December 1893, at the parish church in Bethnal Green. The marriage register reveals that he was employed as a hawker. The couple were both living at Willow Walk in Bethnal Green.
The 1901 census reveals that the family consisting of Albert, with his wife Louisa and their 3 sons resided at 9 Wilmer Gardens in Shoreditch
The Tillett family departed from the port of Liverpool on the passenger ship Kensington on the 2nd May 1907, arriving in Montreal, Quebec Province on the 13th May 1907. The passenger list appears to show that the Tillett family are to be deported.
The Tillett family departed from Portland Maine USA via the passenger ship, Vancouver arriving back in Liverpool on the 6th April 1909.
Alfred Thomas enlisted in the army in London; his service record is not available through Ancestry. He became a driver with the Royal Field Artillery and died at home on the 2nd May 1918. He is buried in Mitcham Church Road Cemetery.
