Kenneth Baddeley who was the second son of 47 year old Sam and 39 year old Isabella Longmire was born July 1884 in Bromley, Kent. His father was employed as an insurance broker according to the 1901 Census.
The 1911 Census reveals that 26 year old Kenneth was employed as a clerk to an insurance broker and was still living with his parents at Netherton in Bromley, Kent with their 4 servants.
Kenneth Baddeley’s service record is not available through Ancestry but he is known to have enlisted in the Hampshire Regiment and rising through the ranks to Lance Corporal when, he was commissioned to 2nd Lieutenant on the 6th 0ctober 1915. He was killed in action on the 15th September 1916. He was buried at Bull’s Road Military Cemetery at Flers.
Kenneth Baddeley left behind his widow Alice Marian McGillewie and his young son Denis Irvine who was born in Croydon in the third quarter of 1916. Probate of his will reveals that he left his entire estate to his widow.
