Albert Chivers according to the 1881 Census was employed as a boot maker. In the third quarter of 1890 he met and married Mary Jane Brown at Kingston.

In 1891, 37 year old Albert George was now a cab proprietor. George Thomas Chivers was the second son of Albert George Chivers’ and Mary Jane Chivers in 1896. He was baptized on the 5th February in Wimbledon in 1893.

The 1901 Census reveals that the Chivers family resided at 173 West Barnes Terrace. Thirty seven year old Albert was employed as a cab groomer. Eight year old George was attending the local school with his siblings.

In 1911, the Chivers family now resided at 67 Dorian Road in Raynes Park, Wimbledon Albert and Mary Jane had been married for a total of 21 years. The couple had 8 children who were all alive and well. By 1911, the Census records that 20 year old Philip who the oldest son of Albert and Mary Jane was now employed as a golf professional. His 19 year old brother George was learning motor driving at Cottenham Park in Wimbledon.

George Thomas’s service record is not available through Ancestry. All that is know that at the time of his death, he had risen to the rank of Lance corporal in the Royal Engineers while serving with Royal Engineers and died in Salonika Greece on the second of February 1918 he was buried at Mikra British Cemetery, Kalamaria.
