Harry William Hobson was the eldest son of Harry and Elizabeth Hobson. His parents Harry and Elizabeth had married in the last quarter of 1888. Their eldest son Harry was born on the 28th February 1894. The Hobson family resided at 23 Newton Road in Wimbledon according to the baptismal record for Harry William on the 25th March 1894.
The 1901 Census reveals that 34 year old George Harry was employed as a navvy.
The 1911 census records 44 year old George Harry was now an unemployed general labourer. He had been married to Elizabeth for a total of 22 years and that the couple had a total of 9 children, all alive and well. Their eldest son 17 year old Harry William was now employed as a milkman.
William Harry’s service record is not available through Ancestry, all that is known is that he enlisted in the Seaforth Highlanders, awarded the Military Medal and was killed in action on the 14th March 1918
Harry William is buried at the Red Cross Corner Cemetery in France. He is commemorated at St Saviour’s Church in Rayne’s Park.
