Very little information is known about Charles Robert who was born in 1888 at Marylebone and resided in Camden Town. Charles Robert is known to have had one sister May Lena Hussey

Charles Robert’s grandfather Benjamin Henry had married Mary Ann Hussey. The couple had one child Lucy Mary Ann in 1855. Baptismal records reveal that Henry Benjamin was employed as a shop man and that the Hussey family resided at 26 Newham Street in Westminster.

The 1911 Census reveals that 23 year old Charles Robert was living with his 78 year old grandfather Benjamin, a retired shop man. Charles Robert was employed as stamper with a firm of goldsmiths. The Hussey family were now living at 13 Goldington Crescent in London.

Charles Robert’s service record is not available through Ancestry, all that is known is that he enlisted in London in the London Regiment (City of London Rifles) 6th Bn rising to the rank of sergeant before he was killed in action.

Charles Robert is remembered at Maroc British Cemetery, Grenay and by his sister May L. Hussey, of 32, Bronson Rd., Raynes Park, London.
