Thomas Arthur was the eldest son of Arthur Henry and Ada Jameson. His parents had married on the 16th June 1894 at Hornsey Rise in Islington. Arthur Henry was employed as a contractor’s clerk.

Thomas Arthur was baptized on the 14th July 1895. At the time of his baptism, The Lister family resided at 88 East Hill in Wandsworth.

At the time of the 1901 Census, the Lister family now resided at 13 Bronson Road in Bushey Park with their 3 children, Thomas, Henry and William and Miriam Moss, a nurse with her infant son.

The 1911 Census records that the Lister family now resided at 86 Bronson Road. Arthur and Ada now had 5 children, Thomas, Henry, William Francis and Marjorie who was a year old.

Information is not available as to when Thomas Arthur immigrated to Australia; he is known to have enlisted on July 31st 1915 in the Australian Infantry.
Thomas Arthur’s service record reveals that at the age of 20 years and 3 months he was 5ft 101/2 inches tall and weighed 153 lbs. He is described as having a fresh complexion, with fair hair and blue eyes. He also had 4 vaccination scars on his left arm.

His service record records him as joining the BEF at Alexandria on the 29th March 1916. He disembarked at Marseilles on the 5th April 1916 and was then reported as missing on the 23rd July 1916 and by the 26th July was reported to have been killed in action. He is remembered at Villers-Bretonneux Memorial.
