Sidney, who was born in Lambeth during the last quarter of 1886 is the eldest son of Louisa Maskell Dicker, it is unclear who his father is from records or where Louisa and her husband were married.

The 1891 Census reveals that Louisa and her two children were living with her 47-year-old brother Charles in Lambeth.

According to the 1901 Census, the Dicker family still resided at 56 Solon New Road with Louisa’s brother Charles in Lambeth at 56 Solon New Road.
At the age of 24, on the 30th 0ctober 1909, Sidney married Dora Edith Read at Lambeth Registry 0ffice. Four-year-old Dora who had been born in Nova Scotia, Canada, had travelled to England with her grandparents.

The 1911 Census reveals that Dora and Sidney were residing at 3 Ballater Road in Acre Lane, Brixton. The couple had been married over one year with their son Sidney Charles. Violet Emily who was Dora’s sister, also lived with them. Twenty-four-old Sidney was employed as a stores despatch clerk.

Sidney’s service record reveals he enlisted in the King’s Royal Rifles on 10th August 1915, the Dicker family were now living at 22 Grenfell Road in Mitcham. Their son Sidney Charles was born in Lambeth on the 22nd of July 1910 and their daughter Muriel Ethel on the 5th of May 1914.

At the age of 28 years, Sidney was only 5ft 2inches tall. He was transferred to France on the 2nd May 1916 and was killed in action on the 15th September 1916. Sidney is remembered at Bulls Road Cemetery, Flers.

Dora Edith moved to 46 Chinnor Road in Thame 0xfordshire by July 1919.
