Frederick was born in Bermondsey on 27 September 1893.
His mother Caroline married Alfred Green in 1901 and for a short while Frederick took his step father’s surname. He attended Bermondsey Polytechnic for Boys between September 1907 and December 1908 as Frederick Green.
By the 1911 census he had reverted to Saunders and was living with his mother and step father in the Smith’s Building, Commonside East, Mitcham.
He enlisted at Finsbury, Middlesex as a Private/Rifleman in the 4th Battalion of the Rifle Brigade number 5/288 and was killed in action on 20 June 1915.
