Additional Information
Stanley was born in Tufnell Park on 6 February 1900 and baptised in the Parish of Old St Pancras on 13 March 1900.
His father, Albert was a Music Engraver and the family, Albert, Annie his mother and older sisters Alice and Lily all lived in Islington.
By the 1911 census, they had moved to a large, eight roomed house called Hyde Villa on Commonside East in Mitcham. A younger sister, Dorothy was now 8 years old and the census shows that two other children had died young.
The war was nearly over by the time Stanley was old enough to enlist but he joined the 9th Battalion of the London regiment (The Royal Fusiliers) and arrived in France on 29 August 1918. He was killed in action less than a month later, on 21 September and is buried in Plot VI.D.12 at Epehy Wood Farm Cemetery in Picardie.
