Archibald was born in Devon and he and his four younger siblings, Mabel, Herbert, Dora and Lilian grew up in Dawlish. Their parents were Frederick, a photographer, and Mary.
Archibald married Lilian Page in St John’s Chelsea on 10 April 1909 and they settled at 54 The Crescent Wimbledon Park. They had one son, Peter Frederick who was baptised on 14 February 1915 by which time Archibald was a Solicitor’s clerk.
Archibald enlisted and was a private in the London Regiment. He died in France on 2 December 1917, leaving his widow £234 6s 7d.
