Eric’s parents, Eric, a tailor’s cutter, and Louisa, were living in Battersea when he was born.
He had two sisters, Lilian and Winifred and he briefly attended Belville Infants School.
By 1911 he was living at 6 The Crescent, Wimbledon.
He married Julia Williams in 1917 and her last known address is 75 St Luke’s Avenue, Ramsgate.
Eric was 23yrs and 10months old when he enlisted. He was 5ft 9ins tall with a 36inch chest, an expansion of 2ins and weighed 131lbs. He was employed as a Tailor.
He became a 2nd Lieutenant and was awarded the Military medal. He was killed in action on 18 September 1918 and is buried in Epehy Wood Farm Cemetery 1.B.6. The inscription on his headstone reads “Underneath are the everlasting arms”. He is commemorated in St Luke’s church Wimbledon park.
