Albert Loader Hall was the son of Albert Edward Hall, a builder, and Florence Emilie (nee Harrington). He was born in Kensington on 23 December 1894 and baptised on 8 February 1904 in St Mary’s Teddington. He had two younger sisters, Annie and Alice.
In 1901 the family were living in Notting Hill but by 1911 they had moved to Wentworth House, Bell Lane Wandsworth and 16 year old Albert was a Junior Clerk in a Shipping Office.
Albert married Elsie Rosalind Dale, from Wimbledon Park, on 2 January 1918 in All Saints Church, Wandsworth. By then he had joined the Army and was a temporary Captain. He served in the 8th Battalion of the East Surrey Regiment and was killed in action on 4 April 1918. He is buried at Crucifix Corner Cemetery, Villiers-Bretonneax and commemorated in St Luke’s Church, Wimbledon Park.
