Additional Information

Frederick was born on 7 September 1883 in Chelsea. His Parents were George, a car man, and Mary Ann and he had older siblings Laura, Edward, Harry and Arthur and a younger brother Sydney.
Fred went to Adys Road School from 15 July 1889.
By the 1911 census, he was a boarder living at 33 Blenheim Street Chelsea and earned his living as an upholsterer.
Fred enlisted in Chelsea and joined the Royal Army Medical Corp as a member of the 27th Field Ambulance division. He died of wounds on 18 July 1916 and is buried in the Peronne Road Cemetery, Maricourt. The inscription on his headstone reads “Into Thy hands I commend my spirit”.
His war gratuity was shared out between his siblings.
There is no obvious connection to St Luke’s Church in Wimbledon Park but one of his brothers married in Wimbledon so it may have been his local church.
