Albert enlisted in the Royal Bucks Hussars at St Swithin's Lane, London but in due course transferred to the Machine Gun Corps.
He was killed on 11 April 1917 and is buried in Tilloy British Cemetery.
His parents, Albert and Eliza, lived at 3 Stranmore Road, Wimbledon Park and had "Our thoughts will ever linger round the grave where you are laid" engraved on his headstone.
