Leslie Frederick was the eldest son of Emma Louise Gaunt and Frederick George Christmas, he was born in the first quarter of 1896 at Edmonton in Middlesex. In 1891, 23- year-old Frederick George describes his occupation as a draughtsman married Emma Louise Gaunt
According to the 1901 Census, four-year-old Leslie Frederick resided at 3 Capel Road in Willesden. His father George was employed as a decorator artist with his wife, the couple had 3 children and employed 2 servants.

According to the 1911 Census, fifteen-year-old Leslie Frederick was attending the privately run Shoreham Grammer School in Church Street in Shoreham-By-Sea. T. The 1911 Census reveals that Emma Louise and Frederick George had been married for 16 years and had a total of 3 children who had all survived to become adults. The rest of the Christmas family were living in a 7-room house at 119 Dora Road in Wimbledon Park and employed one servant eighteen-year-old Edith Scaler. The Christmas family had been living in Dora Road from 1910 to 1912 according to the Electoral register for Surrey.

0n the 31st of 0ctober 1914, Leslie Frederick enlisted in The Buffs and was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant in the 16th battalion of the Middlesex Regiment on the 28th of May 1915 before transferring to the 17th battalion where he served with the Expeditionary Force in France where he died from his wounds received in action on the 13th November. He was buried in the Serre Road Cemetery near Hebuterne, according to UK De-Ruvigny’s Roll of Honour.

Leslie Frederick married Betty Dumpleton on the 17th of November 1915 at Shoreham. The couple resided with her parents at 29 Culver Road, St Albans. The couple had one son Roy Leslie who was born on the 27th of January 1917. Leslie Frederick left an estate of £20 to his widow according to his will.
