Additional Information
Henry Harrington was born in Bloomsbury on 21 April 1886 and baptised in St George’s Church, Bloomsbury, on 4 July 1886. His father, Henry William Harrington, was a cooper and his mother was Emma, nee Waite. At the time of his baptism they were living at 10 Model Buildings, Streatham Street but they later moved to number 3 Model Buildings.
Henry had five older siblings, William, Charles, Elizabeth, Louise and Ada.
William’s father does not appear on the 1901 census, nor does his eldest brother who would have been in his late 20s and probably had his own home. The rest of the family are shown, with their mother, on the form and Henry is now a 14 year old messenger boy.
He married Nelly Kent on 5 September 1914 and they had a daughter, Nelly Winifred on 30 August 1915.
Henry joined the Royal Defence Corps and died, aged 32, on 8 February 1919. He is buried in Streatham Park Cemetery.
