Percy was born in Durham during the summer of 1879. His father, John, was a Chemist and Druggist. His mother’s name was Martha and he had six siblings, Arthur, Frank, Alfred, Caroline and Henry with a younger sister Edith.
They grew up in Durham and by 1901 Percy was training to be an architect.
There is no clear indication of what took him to London and he does not appear on the 1911 census but he enlisted in the Royal Army Medical Corps and served in the 1st City of London Sanitary Company. He had been promoted to Acting Sergeant but reverted to Private when he returned to England on 3 January 1919.
The Probate Calendar gives his home address at the time of his death as 4 The Peth, Durham but states that he died at 196 Clapham Road, Surrey, leaving £750 8s 3d to his mother and is buried in Streatham Park Cemetery.
