Additional Information
Patrick was born in Dubin on 5 November 1884 and baptized in St Michan’s Church on 10 November 1884. His parents Patrick and Margaret had a large family: their first two children died young but they went on to have Mary, Thomas, Bridget, John, Julia, Christina, Annie and James as well as Patrick.
Patrick Snr died in 1891 of epileptic seizures.
By 1901, 15 year old Patrick was a Plumbers Apprentice but by 1911 he was a House Painter and was still in Dublin living with his mother and sister Mary.
Patrick joined the Royal Navy and served on HMS Victory. He died on his 32nd birthday. Officially the cause was stated as “Killed or died as result of accident” but one record shows he committed suicide by jumping overboard.
He is commemorated in Streatham Park Cemetery
