Photograph of the Rue De Boeschepe, Poperinghe, Belgium. Rifleman Herbert Stillman's Battalion was billeted on this street, and he was killed in the square by a shell on 12th July 1916. Poperinghe was one of only two towns in Belgium not under German occupation was used to billet British troops and also provided a safe area for field hospitals. Known familiarly as "Pop", it was just behind the front line.
