War Diary Extract for 1st July 1916, detailing the famous incident where the 8th Battalion of the East Surrey Regiment dribbled footballs towards the font line. Captain Nevill and many of the men were killed, but their regiment was one of the few to reach their objective on that day, which was the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
